VicOne announced today that it is collaborating with NXP® Semiconductors to provide proactive cybersecurity defense for vehicles through AI-driven innovative services. As a trusted partner in delivering cutting-edge solutions for the automotive market, NXP, together with VicOne, is committed to bringing edge AI processing to automotive network security by integrating complementary, purpose-built solutions. This collaboration aims to empower vehicles with effective self-defense capabilities as the industry transitions toward more AI and software-driven services.

Jim Bridgwater, Senior Director of Automotive Edge Processing at NXP, stated: "Today’s vehicles are more susceptible to cyberattacks than ever before, with multiple wireless connections providing opportunities to infiltrate vehicle networks. This calls for cybersecurity solutions capable of detecting new forms of attacks. Our collaboration with VicOne will deliver the edge AI processing capabilities that automakers need to safely innovate AI-driven cockpits while effectively mitigating risks associated with cyber threats."

As part of the collaboration, VicOne's xCarbon Intrusion Detection and Prevention System (IDS/IPS) will leverage NXP's OrangeBox automotive connectivity domain controller platform to correlate vehicle data and security events across multiple Electronic Control Units (ECUs) within each vehicle and broader vehicle fleets. Distributed data is organized through high-speed AI processing at the edge into contextualized attack paths linked to real-world threat intelligence. This enables the detection of suspicious behavior and the prevention of attacks before any damage occurs.

VicOne's award-winning in-vehicle AI Guardian solution will also leverage the NXP eIQ® Neutron Neural Processing Unit (NPU) integrated into the i.MX 9 application processors to protect AI-driven applications against data breaches. NXP's automotive i.MX multi-core application processors offer high performance and low power consumption, along with scalable, secure, and reliable capabilities.

VicOne CEO Allan Tseng stated: “We have collaborated with NXP for many years because of their unique strengths in bringing intelligent systems to the edge. Moreover, in our work with automakers, we’ve identified a significant demand as they transition toward more AI-driven services. Through this partnership with NXP, we are dedicated to developing solutions that enable future vehicles to learn, recognize threats, and effectively intercept them before malicious commands reach AI-driven Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs), their smart cockpits, In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) systems, and other advanced services. These capabilities will be essential for automakers to build trust with future customers and achieve differentiation in the market.”

With the increasing adoption and integration of AI, connectivity, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and Autonomous Driving Systems (ADS), vehicles worldwide are becoming more complex and increasingly vulnerable to cybersecurity threats. Automotive manufacturing supply chains are also gradually becoming a primary target for cybercriminals.

VicOne is dedicated to driving innovation in automotive cybersecurity, offering the most advanced and comprehensive solutions for the automotive industry while leveraging the expertise of top-tier partners, such as NXP. Automakers (OEMs) and suppliers trust VicOne's tailored solutions to address evolving threats, safeguarding vehicles, drivers, and sensitive data.
